The Resonance 08 graduation showcase highlights from the final-year students from the BA(Hons) Music programme. With performers and composers from Classical, Jazz and Popular Music, they will be performing highlights from their graduation recitals as they prepare to embark on a professional career in music. This will be their final performance as students at LASALLE.

Mohammad Shafiq Bin Iskandar, Level 2 student from LASALLE BA(Hons) Video Art programme, screens his 16-minute video essay, in documentary style - Di Manakan Kucari Ganti - Where Can I Find A Replacement, (2007), a warm and quirky video essay that pays homage to P Ramlee and the fall of Malay Film Industries during the 70s.

MEDIA ARTS STUDENTS SELECTED FOR MIT INTERNSHIP
LASALLE BA(Hons) Interactive Art student, Rachel-Marie Wong as well as BA(Hons) Animation Art students Elvin Siew and Jessie Evelin, have been selected for the GAMBIT Internship.
About the Internship
Singapore-based undergraduate, polytechnic and art school students are nominated by their institutions and then selected to participate in an 11-week annual summer program with the Singapore-MIT GAMBIT Game Lab. The students are assigned to work in development teams, interning as game artists, programmers, producers, designers, writers, audio engineers and testers. The program includes a nine-week paid internship at MIT, with funded travel, lodging and pocket money for Singapore students.

7TH CINEMA SOUTH FESTIVAL IN NETIVOT, ISRAEL
DATE Sun 1 Jun – Tue 3 Jun VENUE Netivot, Israel
LASALLE Media Arts lecturer, Tan Kai Syng, has been invited to curate programme of South East Asian films, called Points of Views from South East Asia, at the 7th Cinema South Festival in Netivot, Israel, 10km from Gaza strip, the festival is organised by Sapir Academic College, Programme Director: Erez Pery. The President of Israel, Shimon Peres, will grace the opening of the Festival. Apart from the works of auteurs Garin Nugroho and Apichatpong Weerasethakul, Kai Syng will be sharing her own work, The Rather Terrible Slaughter of the Tour Guide! (2007)
The festival’s related activities include:
Daily discussion session with audience after programme
Two essays will be published in the catalogue. One outlines Kai Syng's rationale in the curatorial decision; the other is an attempt to study the so-called South East Asian essay-film.
Kai Syng will also take part in Night Sessions - late night talkshows by academics/ intellectuals who will discuss their work with the audience.

WORLD PREMIERE OF GENERATION/S - WORLD CULTURAL CAPITALS IN MOSCOW
DATE Wed 4 Jun VENUE Russia, Moscow
Spotlight Singapore in Moscow: World Premiere of Generation/s, as part of the Moscow International Performing Arts Centre’s “World Cultural Capitals in Moscow” project. Conceived and directed by Ivan Heng to an orchestral composition by Iskandar Ismail. Organised by the Arts House, the piece will be performed to a rather distinguished audience, including MM Lee Kuan Yew, SM Goh Chok Tong and Dimitriv Medvedev, the new President of Russia. Kai Syng participates as a video artist as well as performer.

Trade Routes project is directed by US- Filipino filmmaker/ academic Angel Shaw, in collaboration with Brenda Fajardo, Yong Soon Min and Arahmaiani. Kai Syng will also conduct talks, workshops & hold an exhibition of The Rather Terrible Slaughter of the Tour Guide! (2007).
